Bike stolen from injured rider, please help!!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Toni and I have started a go-fund me on behalf of my partner, Jon. Jon is 19, and crazy about mountain biking. He is a cycle mechanic and has been riding mountain bikes for 6 years. Yesterday the worst thing thinkable happened and he had a brutal crash. As a result of the impact, he is bedbound in hospital with a broken back (broken in 3 places but it is possible that there are more breaks), he hasn't been able to move since the crash, can't walk and is in intense pain. It is a possibility that he will need surgery to repair one of the breaks as it is classed as an 'unstable' break. Recovery will take 6 months. The reason I need funding is that after he crashed, and once we were taken away in an ambulance, his bike was stolen. We left it with a trustable friend of his, however, word got around that there was a bike left behind after he had been taken to hospital, and so a group of young lads threatened the friend with a knife and acid, demanding the bike. The young boys who took the bike were well aware that Jon had broken his back but took the bike anyway. This bike is Jon's pride and joy, he had just bought a new frame and shock, spent his entire savings on building it up. Each part was unique and he will no longer be able to get the exact same bike which is a shame. The bike cost roughly £2500 overall, he has spent years building it and making it what it was when he finished it, his dream bike. It was his first time riding it after building it, and some lads stole it. Unfortunately, the police don't usually bother with cases of stolen bikes, and it looks like we won't be getting his bike back. So I would like to raise the funds to buy him a new one while he is in hospital. It will not be the same as his original bike, as unfortunately some of the parts are no longer made, however, I aim to build him a better bike, keeping the parts that are still available, and upgrading the parts that are not. It would mean a lot for any form of awareness for this fundraiser, whether it be a donation or just sharing the post. Let's build Jon his bike back up.

**AN UPDATE** So as of today (15/06/23), Jon has had surgery in his T11 and T12 vertebrae, according to the doctors one of those bones was completely shattered. He has been so brave throughout the ordeal, and I and everyone supporting him could not be prouder of his progress. Expected recovery is supposed to take up to a year now rather than six months (As they want to remove the rod placed in his back in 6 months) and he is fighting it like a champ. He has been able to move around and walk small distances today with little assistance and we have been able to take him out in his wheelchair for a change of scenery. There has been various media outlets contact us with intent to share in the local and possibly national media, which we have agreed to in order to gain more traction. We could not be more pleased with the attention Jon's situation has garnered and beg you to continue to share the story. Regarding his bike, there are a group of lads keeping a lookout for it but unfortunately, that's all we're getting in terms of getting it back. The police have been in contact and stated that due to 'insufficient information' they are not going to investigate at this moment. As you can imagine this is incredibly infuriating for everyone involved as not only was an incredibly expensive bike stolen, but young boys were threatened with violence in order to acquire it. We are all trying our very hardest to get the bike back but it is not looking good. Hopefully, there will be more updates on its whereabouts soon. Thank you so much for all of your support, it means the absolute world to both of us.
