Bike to alder hey for Ella
Donation protected
Around two weeks ago we heard the devastating news that no one wants to hear especially where children are involved...that my cousin Ella had been taken to hospital unwell (after what was assumed to be heat exhaustion) was actually confirmed to be a brain tumour
On the 22nd June Ella underwent 8 and a half hours of surgery to remove the tumour, and a few days after that the results came back which confirmed the worst and that the tumour was cancerous.
Ella is now facing a long journey ahead with a lumber puncture this coming week as they think the cancer has spread to her spine.
After that chemotherapy and radiotherapy will be the plan going forward which could be up to 18 months with a chemo port & potential PEG insertion during treatment.
Despite all this Ella has remained with a smile on her goergous face and her 4 amazing siblings have been by her side throughout, aswell as her family & friends.
With the support from my mum and dad on the day, we've decided to do a sponsored bike ride on the 27th August from my home at Newton le willows to alder hey hospital where Ella will be receiving her care.
This will be just under 25miles, a challenge that may not be for some, but is huge for me given my own LT health issues.
This will by far be the most fulfilling challenge to complete, in order to ease some pressure of the family through such a difficult time. This sponsorship will help towards travel costs, days out for Ella and the family (when well enough), additional equipment at home, and any help needed whilst Amy and Andy may need to be off from work in intervals to be by Ella's side.
The next 8 weeks will be training, and perseverance and a test to myself. But every part of it will be worth it, if it makes that little bit of difference to my family.
Thankyou for you support ❤️
