Bike Across America 4 Diabetes
Donation protected
Hi everybody, Thanks for already taking the time to read about my upcoming journey and hopefully you will check in time to time to see where it has taken me. I'll get to the journey shortly, but first I wanted to tell you simply why. I have found myself at a place in my life where I work all day, at a job I strongly dislike (hates a strong word),and come home depressed. Like many, this circle goes on and on. Don't get me wrong, I have a good life with an amazing fiance and good friends, but my health has deteriated tremendously along the way and I have decided to make a change. So I've quit my job and will be riding my bike across the United States!!! Not only to better my health, but to see the many many places I have not had the opprotunity to see and interact with the countless great people across the US (and i'm sure a number of not so good people).
In the past I've been told I was borderline diabetic and that all I needed to do was workout and eat better and I should be fine. So that is exactly what I am going to do. I love to give back and plan to raise awareness for diabetes along my ride and hopefully motivate other people to get out of a hole in their lives and take care of their health.
I will be camping along my journey and staying with friends and family. I am going to DONATE 50% of all money raised to the Tour de Cure, an organization raising awareness for diabetes on behalf of the American Diabetes Association. The other 50% I plan to use for food along my journey. I am planning my trip to be about 100 days, so if we hit the goal of $5,000 that will give me $25 a day for food and $2,500 to donate to the Tour de Cure.
I appreciate all words of encouragement and everything you do. If you are unable to donate please feel to share my journey and if I happen to be passing through your town, I will always be looking for places to stay.
