Bikepacking for BIPOC Bike Adventure Grant

Tax deductible
On Saturday, June 27th I'll be departing from Port Angeles to attempt The Gravel Circumnavigation of the Olympic Range. GCOR is a 470 mile route with over 40,000' of elevation gain, on mostly gravel forest service roads around the Olympic Peninsula.

I've never bike camped before. I've never ridden more than 300 miles in a week.

During this isolated period in my life (moving, quarantine, shelter in place, Kyle's deployment) I've had some ride challenges set in front of me that I've been fortunate to be able to complete. While I miss the coffee rides and small group ride gatherings, embracing the solo ride has been a journey. But the GCOR is another level of solo, and I'm VERY intimidated.

In planning for this trip, I've realized the cost to start something like this is immense. And having money as a barrier to start adventuring is unfortunately the truth for many would be adventurers.

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit the BIPOC Adventure Grant through Bikepacking Roots, and any donation will help make an impact.

More information about Bikepacking Roots: Bikepacking Roots is the only 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing bikepacking, growing a diverse bikepacking community, advocating for the conservation of the landscapes and public lands through which we ride, and creating professional routes. We value human-powered adventure and an inclusive, engaged, and informed membership that makes a positive impact as we explore by bike.

The BIPOC Bike Adventure Grant* is Bikepacking Roots' new grant program created to help reduce the barriers to bike adventure for BIPOC individuals. This grant will provide funding for recipients to pursue an adventurous experience by bicycle. The adventure isn’t limited to bikepacking, as we recognize that there are numerous barriers to multi-day self-supported adventures that must be dismantled before considering bikepacking. These barriers include finances, equipment, confidence, backcountry experience, backcountry camping skills,  physical access to bikepacking routes, and more. The BIPOC Bike Adventure Grant will support recipients by helping fund a fun and empowering bike adventure. We’ll leave it up to grant applicants to define their own meaning of adventure. Applications will be up around July 15 for the first round of funding!

FYI: All of the money donated through this fundraiser goes DIRECTLY to Bikepacking Roots and the donation is tax deductible. None of the funds go to me personally.
