Biking across Europe: Italy to UK Cancer ride

Cari amici, familiari e sostenitori,

Non chiedetemi perché, una mattina mi sono svegliato e ho deciso che dovevo intraprendere una spedizione in bicicletta dall'Italia all'Inghilterra. Sto partendo un viaggio con una missione comune: avere un impatto significativo nella lotta contro il cancro.

Non c'è bisogno che vi dica come il cancro abbia toccato la vita di milioni di persone in tutto il mondo. La maggior parte di noi è stata colpita, direttamente o indirettamente, da questa malattia. Insieme, abbiamo il potere di fare la differenza sostenendo la ricerca innovativa che ci avvicina alla ricerca di trattamenti migliori.

Tuttavia, non posso farlo da solo. Come potete aiutarmi? Ho organizzato questa raccolta fondi per cercare di raccogliere 1487€, 1 euro per ogni chilometro di viaggio (AGGIORNAMENTO: Poiché abbiamoraggiunto il nostro obiettivo in meno di 72h, proviamo a raddoppiare le donazioni a 2€ per ogni chilometro e raggiungere 2974€). Tutte le vostre donazioni saranno devolute ad AIRC, la Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro, che fornisce le risorse necessarie alle organizzazioni in prima linea nella lotta contro il cancro. Unitevi a me in questo incredibile viaggio partecipando a questa campagna di raccolta fondi.

Il mio piano è quello di partire il 23 agosto e seguire un percorso di 18 giorni che mi porterà dall'Italia, partendo da casa mia, per dirigermi a nord e valicare le Alpi in Svizzera, attraverso la campagna francese e le colline del Lussemburgo, percorrere il Belgio ed attraversare la Manica per raggiungere infine il Regno Unito, dove concluderò il mio viaggio nella contea di Suffolk, nella piccola città di Bury St Edmunds.

Mi sto allenando ogni giorno e sto taccogliendo lentamente tutto il materiale necessario per il viaggio (se qualcuno vuole dare una mano/sponsorizzare, è più che benvenuto!). Sono consapevole che si tratta di una sfida, sia fisica che morale, ma sono convinto che si possa fare. Vi ringrazio per essere al mio fianco e per avermi aiutato a creare un impatto sulla ricerca sul cancro e a portarci un passo più vicini a una cura.

Don’t ask me why, I woke up one morning and decided I had to undertake a challenging cycling expedition from Italy to England. I am now embarking on an extraordinary journey with a shared mission: to make a significant impact in the fight against cancer.

There is no need for me to tell you how cancer has touched the lives of millions worldwide. Most of us have been impacted, directly or indirectly, by the disease. Together, we have the power to make a difference by supporting groundbreaking research that brings us closer to finding better treatments.

However, I cannot do this alone. How can you help? I have set up this fundraising seeking to raise 1487€, 1 euro for every kilometre of the trip (UPDATE: Because we reached our original target in less than 72h, lets try and double our donations to 2€ for every kilometre and reach 2974€). All your donations will go to AIRC, the Italian Foundation for Cancer Research, providing necessary resources to organizations at the forefront of the battle against cancer. I plan to leave on the 23rd of August and follow an 18-day route that will take me from Italy, beginning from my house in the vicinity of Lake Como and heading north and crossing the Alps into Switzerland, through the French countryside, across the hills of Luxembourg, travelling through Belgium and crossing the Channel to finally reach the UK, where I will end my journey in Suffolk, in the small town of Bury St Edmunds.

I have been training every day and slowly gathering all the necessary material for the trip (if anyone wants to give a hand/sponsor, they are more than welcome!). I am aware it is a challenge, both physically and mentally, but I am convinced it can be done.
