There is an incontestable amount of joy that comes from riding a bicycle, yet there is an inexplicable amount of freedom that comes from living off one; that is the freedom I desire.
My name is Nadia Peppler and I am currently a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Kinetic Imaging with specifics in animation, video, and sound. As I have reached my final semester, all of the skills and techniques I have learned over the past few years are finally being brought together into one large project: my senior thesis.
This senior thesis project is something I hold very dear to my heart as it is the documentation of the planning and preparation for a trip I have been dreaming about for as long as I can remember. Starting this summer, I will be biking the Northern Tier TransAmerica bicycle route. This trip will take approximately three months to complete and I will be starting inBar Harbor, Maine heading west towards Astoria, Oregon.
I have found an incredible amount of joy from documenting the preparations and want to continue this story after the trip is complete. I plan on continuing my senior thesis after graduating to document the trip as a whole. I plan to document my journey by all means possible, but to do so I need help. Any funds received for this trip will not only go towards documentation equipment (handheld video camera, sd cards, etc) but also towards food and supplies to ensure that I am fully and safely prepared to live off my bicycle.
