Bikram Darlo's New Home

September 2023
Hello Darlo,

As with any renovation, our new fit-out encountered delays due to discrepancies between the council's regulations and the building codes set by the certifier. We are actively pursuing recourse with the City of Sydney to address how things went off track. As a result, our operating costs have essentially doubled during this period.

We fully grasp the economic climate, and if donating is not feasible for you, please don't feel any pressure. We look forward to sharing the new space with you.

Hello, it’s Katie Worthington here …

As you may know, Marty Williamson and I became the proud owners of Bikram Yoga Darlinghurst in October 2016. At this time, we took on the massive yet rewarding project of owning one of the most reputable and widely recognised Bikram Yoga studios in Australia. As owners, we have ridden the waves of change over the years with acceptance, commitment and perseverance, and an important goal in mind. That is, to provide a world-class therapeutic hot yoga experience and, with the best interests, good health and well-being of our student community. We recognise that we have gained such a wonderful extended family through our yoga studio. We acknowledge that Bikram Yoga Darlo wouldn’t be what it is without such a key aspect of the business, that is, our community!

Humbly, we are now reaching out to request your support and assistance as we face the next step in the life of our school. And probably, the most significant to date. Due to the sale of the building we currently occupy, we must now shift our direction to continue forward. Fit-out costs have come in higher than anticipated with a full electrical upgrade required to facilitate a new heating system.

While decisions are being sensibly made we are working towards creating a state-of-the-art yoga studio that won’t require Marty to Macguyver something each week. (Hopefully, he can practice more yoga with all that extra time.) Please understand that costs are being carefully managed and, where possible, we will also be incorporating some of the equipment we already have, however, much of what’s existing at 256 Crown St is towards the end of its life. Alternative features, decor and amenities suitable for the new building space are required.

Bikram Yoga Darlinghurst continues to adapt and evolve, progressing forward in a positive direction. In the past, you have mobilized as a group for the bigger mission, not only for you but for the common bond you share with strangers and soon-to-be friends with many of you becoming family to each other. For that, we are forever grateful.

With sincere thanks and much gratitude for your support,

Let’s get this show on the road!
