A Call for Life (Bilal from Gaza)
To our brothers and sisters in humanity, noble-hearted people, seekers of good, Gaza appeals to you in these difficult times, and your contribution, however small, makes a big difference in someone's life.
Hello, my name is Bilal. I am 29 years old. I studied at university and graduated in 2021. There are no job opportunities in Gaza. I had hoped to continue my studies with a master's and doctorate degree, but i had to stop. With no source of income to support my studies, I got married, and now I have a family of four. My first child is two and a half years old, and my second child, born during the war, is just one month old.
Here, I began to face the hardships of life under the brutal and relentless war on Gaza. We have lost so much in this savage conflict. Our home was completely destroyed by bombing. I lost my brother, and then my father, who was my support in this life, the backbone of our family. My mother is elderly, bedridden, and suffers from various health issues, including the need for several surgeries, the most critical being open-heart surgery.
I have endured a lot, even at a young age, carrying the heavy responsibility of providing for our household - food, drink, and clothing. As the war continued, we were displaced multiple times, suffering immense hardship. We had to sleep on the streets because of the severe conditions we faced during this painful and distressing war.
We are now living the worst days of our lives, growing older without the means to change our fate. Our dreams and hopes have turned into ashes. We once hoped to fulfill our dreams and live a decent, simple and beautiful life like people in other parts of the world. This war has completely destroyed our lives. Imagine living in a tent on a public street for more than 10 months, made of tarp that offers no protection from the cold or rain. How can a child survive in such tent under such hard conditions?
I found myself powerless and broken, unable to provide even the most basic needs for my family. I hope and plead for your support by donating, so I can purchase the essentials for my family to survive in this life filled with challenges, hardships, and sacrifices.
Are we not human, like anyone else, deserving of a dignified life, free of fear, terror, poverty, and hunger? Shouldnt we be able to complete our education and live in peace? I hope you can help us live a normal life, like others, so we can leave Gaza, build a new life, and continue our studies.
