Bill Callahan Walkingman Car Accident Recovery
Donation protected
On May 22nd in Baytown, Texas, Bill and his service dog Dauber were in a severe car accident. The van they were in plunged 15 feet into a ravine leaving Bill and Dauber trapped in water up to their necks. The quick response of the Baytown first responders resulted in Bill and Dauber being cut out of the van with the jaws of life. Bill was transferred to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital and is now at home trying to recover from his injuries. Unfortunately, this severely impacts Bills and Daubers' ability to get around. Bill's van, wheelchair, phone and many other items in the van are a total loss.
Bill, known as The Walking Man, is a paralyzed vet who served four tours of duty for his country. Since returning home from Vietnam, he has spent his time paying it forward, raising money for others in countless ways. Bill's love for helping others has kept him going over the years. Through auctions and fundraisers, he has raised millions of dollars for numerous organizations, including but not limited to the Military, Police, Firefighters, First Responders, Special Needs Children, Breast Cancer and many others. Bill and Dauber are very active with the Houston Livestock Show and other Houston events. He also spends his free time repairing old wheelchairs and donating them to those in need. Being in a wheelchair has not stopped Bill and Dauber from joining forces with countless first responders to help in hurricane rescue across the country.
Bill has never asked for nor accepted help from others, always insisting on paying it forward to someone else in need. Now is our chance to return the favor.
On this Memorial Day Weekend, we are hoping to raise enough money to help Bill and Dauber acquire a new van and equipment so he may continue to do what he does best. Help Others!
