Bill Godwin, 64, passed away Tuesday night, August 28, at Mission Viejo Hospital after a hard 9 months battle with aggressive Multiple Myeloma Cancer. He was born in El Paso, TX and was adopted by a loving family Mary Godwin and C.L. 'Mac' Godwin, a married couple from Lubbock, TX. He had an adopted sibling, Benny Godwin, and a dog named Buster. He is finally reunited with all of them in heaven.
He had a passion for music, sports, and the grocery industry. He played football in Lubbock High school and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He later met Zari Ghods and took her to many UT games and various concerts, that she didn't know anything about. He would joke that his school pride was so strong his blood was burnt orange. Bill's father was heavily involved in the grocery business, and taught Bill a lot about running a grocery store. He was still working at a grocery store at the age of 63 when he first experienced symptoms of his cancer.
After marrying Zari, they had a daughter, Headieh Godwin. He was the most supportive father, always encouraged her no matter what her goals and plans were. He helped bring Zari's family members over from Iran, helped his nieces and nephews with any sort of problems they were having, even something as small as a homework question. Bill was the sweetest man, easy to get along with and went with the flow. Everyone loved him.
With the costs associated with a family member passing, any money collected will be used to help with any outstanding bills, costs associated with the memorial service, and any other needs during this tough time.
Forever in our hearts rest in peace Billy Mac Godwin
