Bill Justis

My name is Bethany and this is my father-in-law, Bill Justis. I'm proud to have been called his "Number One Daughter-in-Law" for nearly 25 years. For a while, he was also my pastor. He was kind, had the worst dad jokes, the best practical advice, and was an example how God's grace changes a life and makes it beautiful. His battle with ALS is over now, he died on March 8, 2024.

Throughout his life, Bill had several medical issues, including a degenerative spinal disease. Over several years, things got progressively worse and a neck surgery was proposed to make him better. It didn't help, and actually impaired his speech. After months of monitoring and testing, it was discovered that the real issue was ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease. He received this news in late January 2024 and his condition deteriorated faster than anyone imagined.

By this point, speech was badly impaired and it was difficult to make plans of any kind for the future. End of life and cremation arrangements were still incomplete when he died on March 8.

As a pastor of very small churches for 38 years, there wasn't ever a lot of extra money. The small life insurance policy will not cover living expenses for very long and it will be a few months before his wife, Sandy, can receive a portion of his pension. We'd love to help Sandy get some additional support for medical and utility bills, repairing her home, or even relocation, if needed.
