Donation protected
Hello, My name is Jerry. I am starting a fundraiser for my oldest sibling, Bill. He is not the person to really ask for help but i know him and his wife need it. They just made a move in 2021 from Colorado to San Antonio Texas. In December of 2021 he went in for a routine check-up and after the blood work came back a few days later, he received a call form his doctor to head to emergency room. They told him he had severe anemia and then they gave him 2 units of blood. They then referred him to a gastroenterologist. On Jnauary 28th he had the endoscopy and colonoscopy, the doctor found potential cancer. On February 1st the biopsy results confirmed colon cancer. Then after meeting woth oncologist and surgeeon, they scheduled his surgery on March 15th. Well after spending 5 days in hospital he was able to go home on March 19th. At that time he seemed to be on track for a fairly quick recvovery. Bill and Kelly started to plan for the 6 months of chemo therapy. At this time Bill was in good spirits and kept putting it in the Lords hands. Bill was still in extreme pain but his surgeon told him to keep taking narcotice and it would get better soon. Well he was not able to eat and on March 30th he went to ER because of the pain was out of control, they found a leak in his colon which lead to major infection. once admitted in hospital they put in a drain for the infectiom and put him on strong rounds of IV antibiotics. He was still battling the infection many days later. The doctors replaced the drain, then scheduled surgery to clean out abdomen and ileostomy. On April 4th he has the JP Drain. ostomy bag and wound vac procedure. He was moved to another hospital for recovery on April 12th. While there they put in 3 more drains. He was unable to eat do to the severe nausea. At this point he had lost 42 pounds. Finally after months in hospital they moved him tpo a rehabilitaion hospital and he finally got to go home May 26th. He is currently doing better but has a long road ahead. He will still need home helath care fro months adn his chemo therapy for 6 months. He is expected to have the ileostomy reversal surgery in July.
Overall they removed 10 inches of his colon and 19 lyphnodes of which 3 were cancerous.
Trust me, he is not complaining and is Blessed to be alive and Thankful for all that have cared for him.
Him and his wife Kelly have spent up all their savings so far towards deductibles and theor portion of medical bills. With his need for more medical procedures and chemo therapy, They could really use any financial help that you can spare. So if you find it in your HEART to doante, please do. Of course please continue to pray for him and the doctors and nurses treating him.
God Bless You
