Please help and support Bill Quay Primary School to go to the Vex Robotics World Championships in Dallas, Texas held in May 2024.

Since the inception of the South Bank Tyners Team in September 2021, Bill Quay Primary School has competed regionally, nationally, and globally in the VEX Robotics Competitions. They have showcased their coding and robotics skills in an international program that provides children with exciting, open-ended robotics challenges that enhance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on, student-centred learning.

And this year is no exception!

Bill Quay Primary School have dominated the local competitions, winning Team Work Champions Awards at both Nissan and Newcastle University; achieving the Excellence Award at Nissan and the Think Award at Newcastle University. The team then went on to place second in the national competition in Telford and win the prestigious Excellence Award; the highest accolade any team can achieve.

“The excellence award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high-quality competitive robotics programme. The excellence award recognises the team’s ability to document and explain their engineering and design process via an engineering notebook and a team interview and the team demonstrates outstanding competition performance by being amongst the top performing teams at the event. This team is a strong contender in numerous award categories and exemplifies dedication, devotion, hard work, and teamwork. This team is committed to quality in everything they do!” (VEX IQ March 2024)

They are an amazing team; the children have worked tirelessly in school, after school and during their lunchtimes to work as a team. They attend events during their weekends, and they spend hours of their own time researching design ideas and game play strategies. We are so proud of their resilience and their success and to qualify two years in a row for the World Championships in Texas is just phenomenal!

But….We can’t get them there alone, and we need your support!

We hope to raise funds to send Bill Quay Primary School’s robotics team to the VEX IQ World Championships in Dallas, Texas. Any additional funding raised will be ploughed directly into our Community STEM Shed at school where our children will share their skills and experiences with their school and the wider community.
