Bill Shue Cardiac ICU and Rehabilitation

Donation protected
On Saturday, November 3rd, Bill Shue was driving with Trudy Silverman from Monte Vista, CO to Pueblo, CO to visit family for the weekend.  On the east side of LaVeta pass, Bill passed out while driving from what we now know was heart arrhythmia complicated by high blood sugar.  He was taken by ambulance to Walsenburg and then on to Pueblo, CO where he was stable, talking and alert and even ate dinner.

That evening, he suffered another heart episode, sending him into cardiac arrest, and causing him to need CPR.  After consultation with cardiologists, an Impella device  was inserted into his heart (artificial heart pump), he was at this time unconscious, intubated, and was transported to University of Denver Hospital in Aurora, Colorado to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

He arrived at UCHealth University of Denver Hospital on Sunday, November 4th.  While hospitalized he faced and conquered a laundry list of complications and set-backs including diabetic ketoacidocis, continued arrhythmias, and several more rounds of life-saving CPR.  He was eventually stabilized and a permanent defibrillator  was inserted into his chest. Slowly, but surely he regained his health and is ready to regain his strength through physical rehabilitation.

He will be moving to Pueblo, Colorado to Parkview In-Patient Rehabilitation for a two-week stay at their intensive rehabilitation program.

We are so thankful to have Bill still with us.  He is concerned about how he will pay for all of this intensive life-saving medical care and rehabilitation.  He has asked that we start this GoFundMe page on his behalf.
