Bill Weinberg to get back to his great work in USA

Hi, my name is Geof Bard and I'm helping to get Bill Weinberg safely home from Mexico and back to publishing his unique human rights journalism on his website www.countervortex.org .

Bill sent me a desperate email seeking rescue after he tumbed out of a hospital in Mexico. He had traveled to La Paz, Estado Baja for expensive dental surgery that he could not afford in the US. While undergoing a series of procedures to save his teeth, he developed acute appendicitis/diverticulitis and had to undergo emergency

surgery to save his life.

Bill spent five days hospitalized in Baja. He can barely walk and as of the initiation of this fundraiser, he has not been able to complete his dental work. I called and he was in pain, exhausted and eager to get home. Bill asked if I could drive to Tijuana and get him to the airport in San Diego in time for his red-eye flight back home to New York.

We found him a shuttle bus that we hope will take him from TJ in time for his flight. I am standing by to drive down to the border if he needs help, even if it is just a matter of someone to stay with him during the lay over.

He he did not know if he would be able to complete his dental work before that flight. Hopefully, he will be able to stay with his friends in La Paz until he finishes his teeth because he will not be able to afford it in the US.

It is outrageous that he had to drain his savings to fly all the way to La Paz for something he should be able to handle at NYU's Kreiser School of Dentistry. He may not even be able to complete the work without having to forfeit his paid ticket and purchase another flight from San Diego to NYC. If so, I will update this page and find out what the cost will be.

This fundraiser is intended not only to fund his return and recovery but to kick start the resumption of his stellar work on CounterVortex. I do not have it linked to an account at this time and prefer to link it to Bill's account directly. I will call him later today to set that up. The funds will be retained by GoFundMe. When you go to the donation page, where you can donate as little as five dollars, it will state that this is a donation to help me help Bill. However, the beneficiary is Bill Weinberg and if he has the strength and clarity to deal with it he will have sole access to the funds.

Even in the best-case scenario, Bill will have to make it back from the airport to his apartment in New York. He is undergoing enormous stress and I think that even a few small donations will lift his spirits. Ten five-dollar donations mean that ten people took a moment to help out.
