Hello! My name is Rissa, I’m Bill’s youngest daughter. My dad has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. While he is fighting the cancer, he and my mom are both out of work. My mom has taken FMLA to care for my dad. Dad has critical illness insurance, but it’s just not enough to keep up on all the bills. My dad is a great person. He served 20 years in the United States Navy; he has been a loving husband for 40(ish) years; a father to 4 children; Poppa to 5 grandchildren. The list could go on. My dad is a humble person, and typically would not ask for help, but right now, he needs community. Please say a prayer/send healing thoughts. And if you can, please donate. Every bit helps.
9/18/23 Update:
Dad’s most recent PET scan results show that the mass in his colon and bladder did go down in size, as did some of the modules in his lungs. The results also showed that some of the modules and masses did get bigger, as well as a few new ones.
Dad has had a few side effects from treatment, including blood clots in his lungs, and peeling of his hands and feet. He is taking some blood thinners and some of his treatment is being pulled back.
Dad is having surgery on the 28th to replace a stint. At this time, surgery on the main mass is not an option.
Daddy is still fighting, working when he can, and still bowling great games! Financially, things are a little tight as both parents are working intermittently. If you can help, our family will be incredibly grateful. If you can’t help, we absolutely understand and would be grateful for thoughts, prayers, and shares.
2/20/24 Update:
It is with the deepest regret that we update this for the final time. My dad passed away yesterday. The last thing my family needs right now is the stress of funeral costs on top of the medical debt.
