Please help Billy the Bull Terrier

Dark, cold, abandoned, scared. A call comes for help, a man is not moving in a home, deceased - cause unknown. It is late at night as the call comes in to dispatch. An officer arrives at a home in Compton where a man is deceased, how long he had been there is still unknown. The officer cleared the building, and when he went to check the garage - it was determined that a dog had been locked inside for an unknown amount of time with no food or water.. barely surviving. Upon examination of the dog, it appeared that there were severe scarring and open wounds on the ears (as if they were cropped at home), he was covered in fleas, and essentially had no hair on any of his back due to terrible allergies or unknown conditions. While the officer waited for medical personnel to arrive for the deceased owner, he decided he had to save this dog. He knew, like the many other calls he goes to for human and animal alike, he was the last hope this dog had. He knew that if he called animal control, it would be a death sentence for the dog, and he couldn't have that. After proper legal procedures, the officer reached out to our organization and asked if we could help save this poor soul who not only lost his owner, had been shuffled around, and barely cheated death by being left alone with no food or water for so long. We of course agreed, and now the pet is with us in a foster home awaiting medical treatment. Billy the Bull Terrier now has a chance at life. The officer will go back to doing what he does every day - saving lives and giving hope to those souls who are in need of a little light.

We know that this story comes at a time when police, armed forces, and everyone in between is scrutinized, looked down on and ultimately judged on a daily basis. Had this officer not been an advocate for this bully breed, the fate would be unknown but likely not positive. Our deepest thanks go out to the law enforcement who sacrifice their lives on a daily basis and who go above and beyond their call of duty to save human and fur alike.
