Bill's Care & Rehabilitation
Donation protected
On Monday, November 15th, Bill called an ambulance for himself and was able to walk into it. He arrived at Boulder Community Hospital where he received a CT scan showing a bleed in his brain. He was flown to Swedish Medical Center (the local experts in neuro-trauma) where they performed a test to check for an aneurysm. The test was inconclusive, however based on the amount of blood and his other symptoms, they still believe this is the cause. They will repeat the test on Thursday, November 18th.
Until then, he is under constant monitoring from physicians. They are doing ultrasounds and MRI's to check for vasospasms, which are a constricting of the blood vessels around the area of the bleed. These spasms are common after aneurysms and essentially act like a kind of stroke. The doctors have plans in place to monitor for these spasms and treat them, if necessary. Vasospasms typically occur 4-10 days after the initial days, so the days from Thursday 11/18 to around the end of November will be very important in his recovery. However, his recovery will be a marathon. He will be in the neuro-ICU for at least three weeks and may need to go to a rehabilitation center afterwards. The brain is a slow healer.
For now, we are waiting, praying, and trusting in the experts at Swedish.
Love,
Terri, Midori, and Emiko
We are so happy and blessed that Bill will be going home soon! Having said that there will be a lot of expenses associated with his care and rehabilitation. Thank you
