Bill’s Journey to Recovery

We appreciate you taking the time to show your concern and learn of the difficulties Bill is now facing.

A once energetic, colorful person, Bill’s life came to a halt when he received devastating news this past August. The ailments Bill had been suffering with over time were discovered to be the early symptoms of ALS. Receiving a diagnosis of ALS is like getting a death sentence while feeling wrongly accused. It was unexpected, a total shock filled with fear and sadness for Bill, his loving partner Sean, and his closest family and friends.

In his perseverance he began the grueling treatment for ALS maintaining the spirit we know of Bill. While the treatment and tests were being performed, results from a chest x-ray indicated Bill also has Cancer. This made things even worse. ALS and Cancer.

Bill is like the rose between two thorns. A metaphor for his strength and hopefulness. Defeat against all odds. He has been a figure for so many of us and shared special life events within the community as a florist. He also shares his advocacy and proud identity in the LGBTQ+ community. He is an animal lover. An unconditional friend. To those who he doesn’t know yet, it’s true that his heart and smile would cast a bright light on others in their most difficult life moments. Bill is a loving husband to his best friend Sean McAndrew. The two have grown a beautiful life together. They saw their future with so many possibilities.

We are hopeful for Bill’s dreams and wishes for health. He needs help now and prayers for strength. We know once Bill gets through this he will spread awareness of this disease to others in the battle as well as the family’s affected by ALS and Cancer.
