Billy Cusic Conquering Cancer
Billy and KC received the worst news of their lives on February 27, 2020, just before Billy celebrated his 44th Birthday. Billy has been diagnosed with stage 3/4 adenocarcinoma of unknown origin. The cancer was found in the prostate area, however it appears to have metastasized from another organ. Local healthcare providers have been unable to determine the origin of the cancer, and Billy and KC would like to be able to go to Moffitt, but it’s going to put a significant financial strain on their family, likely insurmountable. Insurance will only cover a small percentage of the care provided at moffitt. Once the origin of the disease has been determined, Billy will start aggressive, long term treatment.
For now, Billy tries to continue to participate in his children’s activities, as his condition will allow. Most days are still good for Billy. If you were to see him, you may not even notice this horrifying disease is living within his body. He remains in pretty good spirits. He has been limited by physicians on what he can and can’t do, but continues to try and do as much as possible. KC is working extra hours at the hospital. Fisher is running the family lawn business, while going to high school and still fishing competitively. Breton, who is in high school and playing baseball, and Alex, who works full time and has a family of her own, have taken over most of the household duties. Friends have also been be helping out as much as possible.
Billy Cusic has spent his whole life taking care of people. I say “let’s return the favor.” He has spent countless hours, over the years coaching our children, and mentoring them while they play the sports they love, whether it be baseball, golf, fishing, etc... He started out with junior golf at Breton Bay. After moving to florida with KC, and having his own children, he went immediately into helping with his children’s sports. He would have the whole baseball team stay at his house for days at a time during the summer. He continues coaching travel baseball. He also captains for youth fishing tourneys, and at times provides housing and funds and equipment for children that wouldn’t otherwise be able to do what they love.
The quicker Billy can get answers, the quickerhe can start to “conquer cancer.” Please consider donating to this wonderful family, so they can get the answers they need quickly, and begin moving forward. I know Billy and KC do not want to ask for themselves, but they need our help.
We are also looking for additional fundraiser ideas, such as a golf and/or fishing tourney. If you have any ideas please contact someone in the Cusic family circle, and let’s get this ball rolling. #cusicconquerscancer
Billy and KC will be posting updates on social media as they have news. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they endure the fight of their lives.
