Billy is a kind, thoughtful, 29 yr old man. Living his life in a good way, never hurting anyone, and working as a quality engineer at Atlas Box and Crate in Sutton, MA. Billy had also bought a condominium just weeks before his accident. His dad, Bill Sr., works at CTS Valpey, in Hopkinton, MA. His mom, Maryann, works at Brian's restaurant, in Linwood, and is known for her cookie pies. His sister Jennifer works at Orange Salon in Millbury, MA, as a hairdresser. His girlfriend Lisa works at Nashoba Valley Regional Hospital, as a physical therapist.
On the very early morning of August 16th, his life took a devastating turn. Traveling northbound on Route 395 in Connecticut, Billy was struck from behind, and forced off the highway careening into several trees and hitting a rock ledge. His car flipped a number of times, landing overturned on it’s roof. A HIT AND RUN!

Billy, trapped in his car, dark and alone, lost consciousness. When he came to, he was coughing up large amounts of blood and knew that he was running out of time. He began honking the horn and realized that no one was around to help him. He attempted to open the drivers side door but could not because it was against a tree. He tried the same thing on the passenger side but failed again because the door was bent and jammed closed. He finally mustered up enough strength to kick the passenger side window out, crawl out of the car, and roll himself into the breakdown lane of the highway. As he laid there waving his arm, in total darkness, a passerby saw him and called 911.
In the accident he sustained a collapsed lung, broken ribs, broken collar bone, broken wrist, and broken vertebrae.
Billy spent nearly a week in intensive care, where he was told he needed spinal fusion surgery. Two metal rods and five screws were implanted in his spine for support.
We are all very thankful that Billy’s alive. It is heart breaking to see him in so much pain, and knowing that he has a very long road ahead. For the immediate future he will be slowly recovering at his parent’s home. It will be months before he will be able to return to work, or return to his condo. This senseless hit and run has forced his life to be put on hold. He’s lost 45lbs, and faces an uphill battle to get his life back to where it was before this accident. There is also the financial burden of the medical bills and other expenses that he will incur.
Thank you to the person who called 911 when they saw Billy on the side of the highway. The doctors stated that he would not have survived much longer with the lung injuries sustained due to the accident.
Thank you to the Connecticut State Police, Webster Police, and the Webster EMS for their quick response, which attributed to help save Billy’s life.
Also, thank you to the staff at UMass and Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital for the care that he received.
We are extremely grateful to all.
We hope that you will help Billy during this very difficult time.
A donation of any amount would be very much appreciated.
