Billy Thompson’s Travel and Transplant Costs

Billy Thompson, was diagnosed in March with IPF .... this came as a surprise because he is healthy otherwise. He started having shortness of breath last year but just thought it was from age or having pneumonia. It continued to get worse and He was referred to a pulmonologist in Feb. He had his first appt in March when he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. There’s no cure for this lung disease. He is taking a medication that they just came out with in the last 5 or so years to try to slow down the progression of the disease but there’s no cure. That is why a lung transplant is the best option. He is now going back and forth to Charleston for extensive testing and evaluation. He is in the process of being placed on the lung transplant list. The doctors and nurses say that it looks very favorable that he will be placed on the list. He and family have to make trips down to Charleston every month. There have been and will be numerous trips & stays back and forth to Charleston. He and his family will have to stay in Charleston for a minimum of 3 months after transplant. He will have to continue traveling back & forth after the three months as well for check ups.
He has loved on & supported so many through the years. It’s our time to show him we love & support him through his fight against this lung disease. Thanks for the prayers, love & support from the Thompson family.
