Educate a Woman - Educate a Nation

I'm raising money for my friend Brenda. I have known Brenda for five years due to my work in the Nairobi slum Kibera. She's one kick ass woman who's single handedly raising two sons and helping her sisters. In fact, Brenda helps everybody - now it's time to help Brenda.

I (and maybe you too) had the great fortune to be born in a country with free schooling, Brenda didn't. So let's even out the odds a bit and right this thing. Brenda is one of the smartest and strongest people I know, so let's join together and help her go back to school.

$3,500CAD will cover her first school year. That's less that 300 bucks a month. (2650USD/2500Euro/year).

And while we're at it, if we can raise enough money, we can also pay the school fees for her son Stallone - it's only 535 Canadian bucks for a year! (400USD/375Euro).

And daycare for Rohan, the youngest one comes at 395 Canadian bucks for a year! (295USD/280Euro)

Then there's an 11% fee 'cause GoFundMe wants some dollars too so that's how we ended up with the ask: 3,885CAD.

Note that the ask is for a full year, as soon as we get the first 400 bucks we can say GO!!! to Brenda.

Here's her letter:

My names are Brenda Achoki, I am 26 years old, single mother of two boys Stallone and Rohan(6/2 years old).I was born in Kibera Slums in a family of five girls, I being the 1st born ,my mother later died .

I started my education at primary school and later joined secondary school, all was well but at some point things didn’t work out, for that I had to drop out in form two in order to look after my siblings. I have that strong feeling that I am a woman of dignity and that I can be a prominent person in life and I am seriously yearning for education though I have financial challenges that hinders me from reaching my goals of becoming a doctor.

Currently I am not employed and things are not easy for my younger siblings are also married at early age and none of them also ever went to high school.

I casually work as a house keeper once in a while which doesn’t meet my family needs and am not able to cope with the situation.

I am currently looking for any support   to help me go back to school  In form two to finish my high school  after 3 years and I strongly believe in my dream to help my siblings and my children also to have better life not to go through the hard times I went  through.
