Birdies Five Points employee relief

Hello as many of you may or may not know already- Birdies bar in Five Points is “closing” and all current staff have been displaced without notice.

Many of these employees have been paid cash under the table for months or years so they are unable to collect unemployment from a job “closing” since Birdies has no record of them working there in the first place.

Birdies set up a Bartender Relief Fund to assist the few payroll employees (under the guise of lack of employment due to fears of spreading COVID-19).

I will be donating the money I received from that “Bartender Relief Fund” to THIS campaign to assist the several barbacks/dishwashers/DJs/Security etc who have been awaiting the return of their jobs only to find out today via Instagram comments that they have been fired (not “the business closing”- fired).

I understand that many people have been displaced due to fear/spread of COVID-19 but in this case the displacement was due to owner negligence and COVID-19 just happens to be an easy out.

Birdies Management literally had a meeting 2 months ago to congratulate the bar staff on their highest grossing sales year date.

I’m doing a very small part to help this small staff and if you have an inkling to help as well please donate to this campaign. Whatever amount is raised will be divided among Birdies staff.
