Happy Birthday Edgar Allan Poe!
Donation protected
HELLO POE FANS! We are fast approaching the 209th birthday of Edgar Allan Poe! This event will be held at the Poe Monument located in the creepy but historic Westminster Graveyard at Fayette and Greene Streets in downtown Baltimore.
ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, 2018 beginning at 4 pm you will be entertained by our Poe performers who will present excerpts from Poe's most famous and terrifying stories! This includes The Tell Tale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher, Berenice, The Black Cat and many others! In addition tributes to Poe by his contemporaries will be presented.
AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE READINGS the Poe performers will place a wreath on the Poe Monument and read a Birthday Toast to Poe! Apple cider will be provided to audience members who wish to participate in this traditional toast.
A SPECIAL APPEARANCE OF THE POE TOASTER will happened when the public event is concluded. This special one of a kind tribute is included in this celebration. This is the only known legitimate image of the Poe Toaster taken in 1990 by LIFE Magazine, photo credit: Bill Ballenburg.
THE FIRST 25 PEOPLE TO ENTER will receive a chance to win a specially designed Poe themed cake designed by me, Jeff Jerome. This Book of Poe with the raven on the cover was designed for the 2016 birthday celebration. OTHER DOOR PRIZES will be announced at a later time. UPDATE! www.poemovies.com has donated 2 DVD's of The Raven and The Cask of Amontillado as door prices! Check them at their website! They are good Poe people! More updates coming!
SINCE 1982 I've been honoring Poe through many different special events honoring Baltimore's own, Edgar Allan Poe. Pictured here is John Astin, Victoria Price, daughter of Vincent Price and myself during the 2015 Birthday Celebration.
UNFORTUNATELY the City of Baltimore decided it wasn't interested in promoting Poe or these special events which brought international coverage to the Poe House, the Poe Grave and Baltimore!
THERE'S NEVER A GOOD TIME to ask for funds and with this time of the year it's particularly tight. But since Edgar decided to be born on January 19th we have to deal with it.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE MAKING AN ON-LINE DONATION you may send a check/money order to me and 100% of it will go towards Poe! Send your contribution to:

CHECK IS MADE PAYABLE to Jeff Jerome. You will be acknowledged as a donor or if you wish to remain anonymous we can do that also. Keep in mind gofundme does not take out their percentage nor do they deduct a handling fee if you donate off line! Which means all of your donation goes to Poe!
THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS have jointly assisted me in making this event happen: The Maryland Historical Society, Westminster Preservation Trust, and Annabel Lee Tavern. I deeply appreciate their enthusiasm, vision and support in bringing Poe alive for you! I encourage you to thank them for this support.
