Bista-Portillo Family-Lost Everything in Fire

Hi-My name is Jan and I represent the neighbors and friends to Samjhana (Sam) and Frank and their family. I am sharing this with the family's permission. On the early morning of March 18, 2024 (approximately 2:43am), it was discovered that a fire had ignited on the back deck while the family slept. They awoke (thankfully for various reasons) and discovered the fire before it spread to the house. They were able to all (3 adults (mom, dad, and a grand parent) and two young elementary age children) get out of the house safely right before the house was engulfed in flames. The fire spread very quickly, and it took over 2.5 hours to extinguish. They lost just about everything in the fire.

Our court of neighbors is a close group that watches out for and helps each other. As you can imagine, the family is overwhelmed with being displaced, dealing with all that comes in the aftermath of a devastating fire, and the prospect of being displaced for an extended period while their home is rebuilt. This is a young family that always help others, takes care of extended family, and are there for others when needed. They are a close and loving family that are wonderful friends and neighbors. We would like to help ease some of the burdens that they face in the months to come and provide them with additional funds to replace what they need now and whatever insurance does not cover. The immediate need now is not material support, but financial support.

We would like to ask our neighbors, the community, and surrounding area that if you are able to assist with a donation of any amount to help the family, it would be much appreciated. This is a young family that has put a lot of love, sweat, and now tears into their forever home. Please join us in showing them love and compassion during this time of need.
