Who am I:
Hello! My name is Gabby and I’m a creative producer. That means I’m involved in every stage of the production process. I wear many hats as a Director, Writer, Stylist, Actress, Video Editor, Performance Artist, and a sex-positive advocate for visibility amongst disenfranchised communities.

That’s a very long way of saying I’m a total control freak. As such, I’m very selective about which projects I take on and primarily make my own content for profit.

Why CDSB exists:
My goal is to express my perception of the world and the human condition. As a black, queer
sex worker, I've struggled to find myself honestly and realistically represented in any facet of the media. It's my goal to change that for myself and others like me.

As a black sex worker, I manipulated a system that would deny me access due to my career choice, gender, race, age, and education level. It was by no means fair or easy. Still, I've demonstrated a unique ability to use a system that would otherwise disenfranchise me to my advantage and manipulate it in a way that helps others. And I want to continue to do so in a way that would profoundly impact how we all relate and connect in the world.

I aim to use my ability to gain access to create platforms that amplify these stories that don't get heard. Through cinematography, I reveal reality in a heightened way that illuminates the intensity I live in and forces the audience to see themselves within each character. And through photography and video, I create stylised images that capture the attention of the masses.

Why we need GoFundMe:
I've created and funded startups in the past by utilising the access sex work afforded me. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming stigma that creates dangerous working conditions for SWers, I've had to retire from FSSW (full-service sex work) and cannot fund my company in the ways I'm used to.

The starving artist is a trope I strive to abolish. It is my core belief that there is room enough in this industry for each voice to be heard. Our understanding of art and each other can only expand as we continue to listen to and amplify these nuanced stories. I don't find myself to be the exception to the rule. I'd like to have the money I need to create the content I want, and it wouldn't be fair if a bunch of white dudes in Hollywood could get paid millions to tell the exact same story in the exact same way and I couldn't get the funding I need to create my art. I have more talent, and it's my turn to speak.

What are our goals?
I intend on scaling this company up in stages.

First, I will focus on content creation and social media growth to develop and curate an audience.

Second, I will start transitioning my content from flashy and stylistic images and videos with mass appeal. Instead, I will start focusing on short films with a stronger emphasis on the narrative and representation without losing the commercial qualities that garner people's interest.

Third, once I've established and curated a large enough audience, I will begin creating a platform that elevates the voices of other marginalised artists. I will begin hosting and curating art shows that showcase the talent of our community members and connect them to financiers and people with platforms.

Lastly, I will begin pre-production for my limited series once my art shows have gained enough popularity. This show will be an artistic recalling of true-life events during the most tumultuous period of my sex work career. It will serve to add a balanced perspective on sex workers' experience and will create the first of hopefully many more honest portrayals of SW in the media,

How can you help?
Donations of any size can help. However, do NOT give more than you can afford. If you are a person in need of financial assistance, ask for help: do not feel compelled to give more than you are able. Your capacity to provide does not make you a good person. You are enough as you are.
