Life Saving Treatment for Rhonda Winton

Update from Chris... As you all know, Rhonda took a turn for the worse in late January, and ended up at the ER. They did a CT scan which showed metastasis to liver, and lymph nodes, as well as the lung. The cancer the doctors originally identified was incorrect. She has a Small Cell Neuroendocrine carcinoma. It is very aggressive, so as a last resort Rhonda started Chemo and Immune therapy. The problem is that the doctors just threw her into a chemo that they "think" will help. We want to have the DNA tested from her specific cancer to determine the exact chemo that will kill the cells in HER body. Insurance will not pay for this, so in order to have the tests done, we need to raise about $2950 for the tests. It may not seem like a huge amount, but with us not working and all the additional medical bills we just cant swing it. I have known Rhonda for 20 yrs. She is one of the most kind, sweet friends anyone could ever have. She is a fantastic hair stylist, mom, and wife. On August 23, 2018 Rhonda was diagnosed with Esophageal/Stomach Cancer. It is a Signet Ring Cell Adenocarcinoma. Doctors believe it is a Stage 3, but there are spots on her spine and liver. The treatment, per the two Oncologists, is a Chemotherapy that is so deadly, it is not given to anyone over 50 and she would have to be hospitalized to receive it. Its called FLOT . It is a combination of 3 of the most powerful Chemotherapy available.  Then 5 months of radiation, and finally a surgery that would remove her stomach and most of her esophagus. Even with all three, the 2 yr survival rate is 40% and less than 10% at 5 yr. 

With great consideration and prayer she has opted for a holistic approach, using the Hoxsey Bio Med Center in Tijuana Mexico, along with The Center for Advanced Medicine and Clinical Research in Cornelius, NC.  Medical insurance will not cover the costs of either treatment. 

The Hoxsey Bio Med Center uses a natural form of Immunology that builds your own natural killer cells to identify and attack the cancer cells, but with Rhonda's cancer, the cancer disguises itself and cannot be identified thus passed over and allowed to grow. The treatment at The Center for Advanced Medicine is anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks of daily IV treatment. Cost is $55k to $80k. She also must cover the cost of housing and expenses there for 4 to 6 weeks.

The tumor Rhonda has is at the junction of the stomach and esophagus. The threat has been total obstruction to the stomach and her not being able to eat or get her medicine to the stomach. 3 weeks ago it happened and she could no longer swallow get food in. She agreed to do 10 intense (300 RAD) Radiation treatments to reduce the tumor temporarily to try to resume treating it naturally. She completed the last radiation treatment on 11/2 but it didn't reduce the tumor the way we had hoped.  Now we are operating on borrowed time. She has to have the treatments to give her the best chance to survive, yet it is a short window before the tumor once again obstructs passage of food and medicine.  She has to get to North Carolina as soon as possible.
