In loving memory of Joshua Obinna Ogu
Donation protected
On the evening of October 6th, 2023 our beloved, Joshua Obinna Ogu passed away due to health complications following a seizure.
Joshua Obinna Ogu was born on December 28 of 1997 to the family of Bob Ogu and Benice Chidinma Nwokoye, he is survived by his parents and his siblings, Ony Augustine Nwokoye, Joy Chioma Ogu, and Chukwuemeka Clinton Ogu. Obinna was truly a gift, a blessing in our lives. From the very beginning, he faced a journey filled with health challenges, he was born with a congenital heart condition, which resulted in him undergoing four heart surgeries, the first of which was performed when he was just three days old.
Despite the trials he faced, he carried a selfless spirit. He was not only a remarkable big brother but a guardian for our entire family. He never liked being seen as the “sick child” and even in times of pain, he would hide it so that we wouldn’t worry about him.
To many, he was the life of the party, a source of light, laughter, and joy. His inner strength was admirable.
My brother’s life was limited by his health condition, but he made the most of it. He was a light, not just to our family but to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
On September 29th, Joshua Obinna Ogu suffered a sudden and unexpected seizure, which led us to rush him to the hospital. While at the hospital, he received seizure medication as they ran a series of tests. We were initially hopeful and prepared to be discharged on September 30th, pending an MRI. However, during the MRI, something went terribly wrong, and his condition took a severe turn. Despite his mother’s concerns, the gravity of the situation was overlooked by the health professionals .
When we entered his hospital room, we found him unresponsive, he was immediately coded and transferred to the ICU. It was revealed that his lungs had aspirated during the MRI, and further, an abscess was discovered in his brain, which they believed to be the cause of the initial seizure. He was placed on life support as the infection in his lungs worsened and spread making it increasingly challenging for his body to function properly.
Tragically, Obinna ultimately lost his battle due to these devastating health complications.
While he may no longer be physically present, his spirit lives on in our cherished memories and in the hearts of all who were privileged to be touched by his extraordinary presence. Rest in peace, and thank you for gracing our lives with your enduring light.
We the family are asking for donations to help with funeral arrangements.
