HELP WITH MY PHYSICAL THERAPY
Donation protected
We need your help with Diane's physical therapy rehab so she can walk again.
Diane has worked in hospitality since she moved to NY from Germany 40 years ago. Unfortunately, the restaurant she was working at was sold and then abruptly closed at the onset of Covid. But Diane landed a job at a nearby restaurant that was opening. Her plan was to get through the pandemic, work a few more years, then retire.
All was going as planned until two months ago when she missed a step at church that broke her femur bone. She lost complete mobility in her right leg. Diane was rushed to the hospital in New Jersey but was asked to wait over the weekend to have surgery since there were no available surgeons until the next week. For days she waited in pain. After 7 days, she was released.
Back in April, Diane started the process of enrolling with the Social Security Administration to receive Medicare insurance. But the government agency sent her a letter, two months later after her accident, saying they did not receive the application forms and supporting documents from her. This included her original birth certificate from Germany and US naturalization papers. Essentially, Diane had no medical coverage at the time of the accident and has no means to cover her medical expenses let alone physical therapy which is what she now needs.
As anyone familiar with the industry, restaurants don't usually provide medical insurance to their frontline employees. They are left to fend for themselves or, in Diane's case, work until they are eligible for government assistance.
We are asking for help by donating $10, $20, or $50 for her physical therapy rehabilitation. If you can't at the moment, please share this campaign with people you know.
