Black and Brown Youth Learning to Snowboard
Donation protected
My name is Vince and my daughter and I went snowboarding at least once or twice a week during the pandemic; she enjoyed it and got really good! This past season, I decided to enroll her in a multi-week class so she could snowboard with people her age and work with an instructor. When I picked her up after the second class, she seemed bothered, so I asked, “What’s up?” She explained how she felt she didn’t belong – she was a girl and Black… she didn’t identify with the people in her group, all boys, no children of color. Later, she asked me to find a way to get more black kids snowboarding… and here we are!
