HELP REPLACE TWO NEW TRACTORS STOLEN FROM BLACK FARMERS IN FRESNO.
In July the African American Farmers of California a nonprofit organization that teaches Black farmers sustainable farming skills on a sixteen-acre demonstration site in Fresno recently had their new tractor stolen. The farmers were devastated to show up on-site to discover the broken gate lock and missing tractor. This loss is impacting 6 farmers who are now in limbo.
Then again on August 6th another Black farmer who is also a part of the African American Farmers of California had his 2022 tractor, trailer, and truck stolen in front of his home in Fresno. After reaching out to his insurance agency he discovered his truck was insured and his tractor was covered but not for theft. A week ago, after the story was covered by KMPF FOX26 news his truck was located, but badly damaged.
The stolen tractors were attached to the livelihood of the farmers and the success of their farming operations and the timing is terrible. All the farmers are devastated as it is difficult for Black farmers to acquire farming equipment or support in general. Right now, the farmers should be preparing to plant the winter crops, but instead, they are in limbo trying to figure out what to do next.
Farms to Grow, Inc.'s mission is to provide advocacy, technical assistance, resources, and distribution opportunities to assist black farmers in sustaining their farming operations and to inspire the next generation to farming as a viable business. TEAM UP TO MAKE AN IMPACT to replace the tractors in a hurry. The need is now or they will miss the planting season for broccoli, collard greens, cabbage, kale, cauliflower, and chard as shown in the picture above from last year.
