Black Girls and Fairytales - A Short Film

Hello, there!
My name is Celeste, and I am one of the producers behind the short film "Black Girls & Fairytales." Welcome to our GoFundMe page!
"Black Girls & Fairytales" is about a dark-skinned rent-a-princess trying her best to nab the next birthday party gig, but she constantly gets overlooked at her agency because she doesn't fit the traditional look of a princess. She concludes that she needs to be lighter-skinned to get more opportunities, so she wishes for it! Her wish sends her on an adventure where she discovers self-love and healing from her ingrained colorism.
This story means a lot to my team and me. Many of us, including myself, have experienced ingrained colorism, body dysmorphia, and many other issues that young black girls go through. "Black Girls and Fairytales" is a story for girls trying to fall in love with themselves. Our mission for this film is clear: empower black women and girls to love themselves just the way they are.
My team and I are so close to finishing the production of this film! We have three reshoot days scheduled. Once those are done, we can send the footage to our editor.
Collectively, my team has won film festival awards, an Emmy, worked with major studios and networks (like Hulu, WB, and Apple TV), and much more!
Meet the team!
We need your help to get the film across the finish line! Please consider contributing today!
I know you have more questions! So, here are some answers!
Q. Where is the money going?
A. Film Insurance to protect our cast and crew. Wages so we can pay our cast and crew. Catering so we can feed people while they are working away on set. Equipment rentals for production.
Q. What's a reshoot?
A. A reshoot is when the production company goes back and re-films some of its scenes. Reshoots are standard in the business. All your favorite movies had to do it! Even though the picture below is such a cool shot, we have to re-film this scene because...well. There was a police standoff with a person who stole a hearse right outside our filming location, and that event cut into our filming time and the scene didn't come out like we wanted it to.
Q. What if I have more questions?
A. Message us by visiting our website www.blackgirlsandfairytales.com! And follow us on IG with the handle @blackgirlsandfairtyales.
