Black History Month: Saroya Strong Community Fund
Donation protected
As many of you know, I founded my mentorship program in the Spring of 2020 - a program that aims to elevate, educate and empower young BIPOC women in sport all across North America! Over the past year and a half, not only have we grown immensely in numbers, but as a close-knit community as well. Despite operating mainly via zoom due to COVID-19 restrictions, we could still come together as a community and workout, listen to guest speakers and attend a few in-person events together!
With this being said, the vision I have for SaroyaStrong is so great that I have almost convinced myself at times that it is unattainable. But, here we are. Improving and growing in ways I never could have imagined. Today we are 58 girls strong! I have had the opportunity to watch many of my girls play and meet many of them not only via zoom but in person, and words cannot describe how much each girl means to me. In the past year and a half, we had $5000.00 donated towards SaroyaStrong, and with the help of your donations, I was able to provide many of my girls the opportunities and tools they need to succeed! Imagine how far $ 15,000.00 could go! Listed below are some of the activities and experiences your donations helped offer my mentees!
- Individual Training, Camps & Ice Costs
- Saroya Strong Practice Jerseys
- Travel & Accommodations Needs
- Women's World Championship Gold Medal Game Day
- Emergency Equipment Fund
As our community continues to grow and the vision I have for SaroyaStrong comes to fruition, with the help of your donations, we can provide these young BIPOC women in sport with the opportunities and accessibility they not only need but deserve. With the money raised, we will have the ability to extend our reach even further and provide both a virtual and in-person community and platform for the girls to connect and grow! Your donations will assist with virtual, on and off-ice training, contribute to our Emergency Equipment Fund, assist with travel & accommodations and provide our SaroyaStrong family with the resources we need to continue to elevate, educate and empower our respective communities. It is my hope that one day, we will be able to offer a yearly conference/camp to gather, connect and form a community so strong that all of the young women involved are empowered by one another and feel prepared and supported to take on any challenge placed in front of them!
