Care for Our Queer & Trans Black Friend
Hello folks!
We are fundraising on behalf of a Black trans queer community member, KC, who was wrongfully dismissed from their job, and needs financial support. KC will remain anonymous to ensure their safety and not compromise the legal process they are in right now.
We are kindly asking for your help to reach our goal of $6000. This 6k would support KC with: rent, basic needs, legal aid regarding wrongful termination, and peace of mind.
Please check out KC's statement below:
Hi Everyone,
As a black & trans queer youth based in Toronto-My life has taken an unexpected turn into a difficult time as the year ends. In November, I was unexpectedly terminated from my full-time permanent position due to organizational restructuring. At this time I had already scheduled time off with my employer to move into a new place with my roommate just before which has had more costs being incurred. I consider myself a responsible independent professional. I was never given any notice or informed prior to my last day therefore I did not have a fair opportunity to ensure that I could have enough funds to directly save in anticipation of being in search of new employment. In light of the pandemic and the holidays, searching for employment within my specific field of work has put me in a state of stress and uncertainty as it is much more difficult. I continue to look for work within my field but this will likely take some time to go through the process. I’m reaching out to ask for some support and care from my community to help me survive and hopefully thrive again really soon. The funds are going to be used to directly help me maintain my housing and cover basic living costs in the interim. I am sending much love and kindness to all. Anything you’re able to give is deeply appreciated by me!
Kindly,
KC
