Black Mansion Archive

It's come time to archive the existing work of Black Mansion so that it can be preserved for years to come.
With over 250 on-camera interviews, we've amassed hundreds of hours of irreplaceable film history. Additionally, we're the only home of several sets of original 35mm stills from cult horror movies, never before seen behind the scenes photography, and video of infamous filmmakers who are no longer with us. The 25+ TB necessary for each year of operation creates incredible overhead for what is ultimately a labor of love.
Recently we've started several new projects and free storage has become mission critical. Documenting the stories of these nearly-lost films has reminded us how important preserving our own materials is. Without this funding, there will be no home for older films and their archival materials will have to be removed to make way for new materials. We want to do everything we can to prevent these from being lost.
The very first dollars toward this project will spare materials from deletion as we continue working on new projects. Meeting the entire goal will ensure the most critical projects and rarest unreleased materials are backed up first. If we can surpass this goal, we can create long term storage & off-site backups for the entire archive.
Film preservation is extremely important. While we continue to search for grants, we are relying on the community to help save and preserve these materials for the future.
