Black mental health project

I came up with this idea to help out the black community, specifically the youth. As we all know in our community vulnerability is heavily stigmatized, with the recent events that have been going on around the world (police brutality/racism) many black people are finding it difficult to work through their mental health because of all the horrible things that can happen to them due to this broken system. This project revolves around art therapy and expression. Usually, we do not know how to open up because we are taught that we need to be strong and expressing our emotions "make us weak" even though expressing ourselves does not make us weak, it is something that has been instilled in us for years. This project allows people to explore their issues and express themselves without feeling the need to actually speak. Your emotions will become your creation, and only you will be able to understand this creation (since its an abstraction of your emotions) thus, it will provide you with a sense of privacy while allowing you to acknowledge your "weaknesses" in order to work through them. As black people we have a long fight ahead of us and we cannot keep fighting if we lose our mental stability. My vision is to see my people grow, to see them healthy and see them winning, I always wanted to do more for the community and this is my way of doing more now. Let us work on ourselves, so that we can uplift the race. The funds from this fundraiser will be used to rent out a commercial space as well as on the equipment (for a year). There will also be food and refreshments available everyday for anyone that needs it. This is a non-profit project, I want everything to be free for anyone that needs it and I cannot do that without the help of the community. Not only will the project include art therapy for inner healing, but it will also include a bi-weekly financial literacy session in order to guide the black youths in the right direction. Let us create a sense of community, let us unify and come together, the systems that exist within the world are designed to be against us so let us create a system by ourselves and uplift each other. We cannot perform anything to the best of our abilities if we are not our best selves and we cannot be our best selves if we do not take care of our mental health and heal from the traumas that this system caused.
