BMM is a collective of music professionals Whose Primary Purpose
Is as a resource network for these individuals and musical entertainment professionals of color. This Network is designed to provide concrete information affecting their daily lives, including—but not limited to—housing purchases and apartment leasing; life, health and instrument insurance; employment opportunities; music rights information from MusiCares, BMI, ASCAP, and the Chicago Federation of Musicians.
BMM also serves as a central meeting place for musicians of color to discuss and dissect issues relating specifically to their needs.
Throughout the 2020 global Pandemic calendar year, BMM directed its focus toward food procurement and emergency monetary needs. BMM will continue to assist in this manner throughout 2021 while shifting towards its intended Primary Purpose.
BMM intends to produce events—both outdoor and indoor) that will utilize the talents of Black/Brown/Asian musicians, producers, sound engineers and lighting technicians.
These showcases can easily adapted for schoolroom-, church-, and community outlet-use as educational music experiences. Additionally, these regularly-scheduled events serve to promote the virtues of BMM, locally, regionally and throughout the country. It is intended that BMM’s charter chapter in Chicago, will serve as the model for similar chapters nationally.
