Black Panther Screening for Youth

Hello!
My name is Joy McDowell and I am a Tampa, FL local. In anticipation for the upcoming movie, Marvel's Black Panther, I noticed many people talking about buying out theaters for all-black screenings. I loved the idea, but as a youth advocate, I wanted to make sure that youth had the opportunity to experience this too! What started as buying out a small theater at AMC Veterans turned into 3 theaters with 3 different screenings.
UPDATE: With the help of Thaddeus Bullard, aka Titus O'Neil, I have partnered with Embracing Legacy, Inc. to add 2 more theaters, sending an additional 350 youth to the screening. Embracing Legacy is an amazing organization that helps students through academic and social programs. Please visit embracinglegacy.org to learn more about them! Proceeds from this campaign will go towards supporting their mission.
AMC has graciously waived the $500 rental fee for each screening. Tickets for the 3 (now 5!) theaters vary, but average out to about $8 a ticket. They are also offering kids "snack packs" for $4, which includes a small popcorn, candy, and a drink.
The goal of $2500 will cover a ticket and snack pack for at least 200 students. The more we raise, the more seats that can be bought and the more teens served!
