Black Queer Dancer Housing Fund
Donation protected
This year has been an immense struggle for all, particularly the vulnerable members of our community who relied on gigs and performance based work prior to the lockdown and who have not been able to work since March. We do not know when clubs will be allowed to reopen.
Harpies is an LGBTQ+ club that had a weekly night in East London prior to the pandemic. We have an unbelievably brilliant and gifted cast of Queer performers and even though the clubs remain shut, we want to ensure the safety and security of our Harpies family.
Two of our incredibly talented Black dancers are experiencing extra hardship due to a lack of funding and financial assistance because of their 'limited leave to remain' status, which is causing them great difficulty as they both have recently needed to find a new place to live. As we all know, London rent and deposit prices are a pain to save for at the best of times, and when you're unemployed with no hope of a gig any time soon it is impossible.
The funds raised will go directly to ensuring these two beautiful Harpies family members have the money required for their deposit and first month's rent. Their move-in date is 15th September so any donations would be greatly appreciated before then.
If you miss Harpies, please consider donating what you would usually tip the performers on a Friday night. We know times are tough for everyone right now, so if you are not in a position to donate please share this fundraiser with others so we can make sure our dancers are safe and secure with a place to live.
