Black SEN Mamas Support Fund

Donation protected
My name is Marsha Martin and I'm a Behavioural Therapist and the Founder and CEO of Black SEN Mamas. We are a national support group and informational hub, and our ultimate goal is to improve Black mothers' access to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provisions, for their children, as well as necessary assistance for themselves during their parenting journey. We see a clear difference in outcomes for Black mothers trying to get the right support for themselves - they face barriers such as being judged, overlooked, and misunderstood, which adds to the negative impact, often resulting in the Black mother's silent struggle with mental health.

We provide regular support group sessions, informative discussions and panelled talks; on all things Black mental health, Black motherhood and Black Neurodivergence, psychotherapist-led workshops, nutrition and gut healing; for better mental health courses, one-to-one psychotherapy & counselling programmes, regular mummy meet-ups, mummy nights out, Black SEN Mama brunches and wellness retreats, as well as various manner of SEND activities/events and advocacy for SEND children, on behalf of their mothers/carers.

We are currently over 1,000 mums strong and growing fast!

This is a rewarding and much-needed service, but it is entirely self-funded. All services are provided for free to our Mama Members, but as we continue to grow, it is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain the costs required, to provide these valuable services.

PLEASE MAKE A DONATION…. We appreciate any amount you can contribute.

Because of you, more of our SEN Mamas can have access to mental health support, advocacy services and the support group sessions they need, when they need it – This allows earlier intervention to provide mothers with safe spaces when they need help!

Here’s what your donations can do:
  • Hire venues to host regular support group sessions.
  • Sensory equipment to provide a safe space for SEND children to play, whilst providing mums with some well-deserved time out, to access services.
  • Fund access to trained professionals supporting counselling.
  • Advocacy support/ Support with access to EHCP plans.
  • Access to legal advice and representation.
  • Delivery of Psychotherapy and Mental Health specialist workshops.

Thanking you all in advance for your continuous support!
