With your help, this fund has helped 70 Black women photographers worldwide.
--
In July, I launched Black Women Photographers, a global community and database of Black women photographers. Ahead of the launch, I spoke to some Black women photographers about what they need in this moment. In a sample size of 40 people, 71% have not been hired for any photo work since February. The goal of this fundraiser is to provide a small relief to Black women photographers who have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHEN/ WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
On July 7th, I dispersed out a range of $100-400 USD to the first round of Black women who requested funds via the form. On July 13th, I started dispersing out funds to the second and third rounds of women who requested funds via form or by email. In mid-August, I started fundraising again. Check out the hashtag #BWPReliefFund on Twitter and Instagram to see how this relief money is making a difference. I'm encouraging all recipients to share online now and throughout the fundraiser. Note: It is not required to make a post online to receive relief from this fund.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
I've temporarily closed the fund. I'm now working on establishing a grant.
