Help Fund a Black Queer Owned Spa & Sauna
Think Jeju (Korean-style bathhouse), but Black.
but queer af.
but trans affirming.
I have been in a space of deep imagining.
Envisioning vast lands, abundant food, fresh air.
A place Black QTs can retreat to.
Affirmed in our bodies.
Recognized in our fullness.
Supported in our healing.
Black queer and trans people deserve safe places to rest, recharge, and heal safely within our bodies.
What I’ve experienced as a healing practitioner working in community over the past 7 years is that our communities in Atlanta have been resilient amidst temporary spaces, transphobic spas, rapid gentrification & lack of autonomous ownership. We crave location stability and we want to establish that in a way that nourishes us and remains accessible for our routine self-care. Self-care should not be a luxury.
Black Magic Sanctuary: Sauna and Respite Center will be the community oasis where Black queer and trans folks can go to heal, retreat, recharge, and relax in a safe affirming space.
The build out of this space will take place in stages. For a full breakdown of each need, and for a more complete visioning, visit: Black Magic Sanctuary Visioning
