The Festival will take place on December 15, 2018, in Los Angeles, CA and around the world. Our Board of Directors, Filmmakers themselves, will host Opening and Closing Nights Ceremonies, Live and Simulcast!
*Ambassadors in diverse cities and countries will host watch parties as we live stream the Opening Day events from historic Leimert Park.
THIS IS AMERICA. TRUMP'S AMERICA.
As El-Hajj Malik Shabazz (Malcolm X) once said profoundly, "The most disrespected person in America is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America is the black woman."
**THIS IS WHY WE NEED YOUR FUNDS:
We need funds to pay for venues, catering, awards for the winning filmmakers, the red carpet, the step-and-repeat, the event photographer, the audience's viewing platform, the marketing and advertisement, the stipends to pay our Board of Directors, (this is hard work!) the gifts for our winners, for our jurors, for our panelists.
*All the films will be available to the public for viewing and voting, ONLINE! And, we have invitations going out to several special celebrity guests to attend as jurors and panelists. The Festival Weekend will be packed full of events, info, and a wide array of films to watch, bringing fresh new stories for our very, under-served audience.*

#BlackMuslimGirlFly® - “A Butterfly Amidst Iniquity”
Nia Malika Dixon, an independent writer-director, chronicles two brief stories, of two very different Black Muslim Women in L.A., that culminate at the gathering of the First Annual L.A. Black Iftar, the gathering to break the fast during the holy month of Ramadan. (The film was shot during the Last Ten Nights of Ramadan, the most, blessings-filled nights of the month!) *Cafe Hot and Cool, a Black Muslim owned Cafe, serves as the beautiful backdrop for the unique event.
@NikkiBlak, a friend who happens to be a talented poet, named after the poet Nikki Giovanni, lends her beautiful poem, "White Sundress," from her book, "Five Three & Rising." Music is by Vinson Muhammad, aka @AllahsApprentice
*Nia and Ayanna wrote, directed, and produced, the completed film in less than a week to make the deadline to apply for several grants.
(*They are still applying for funding to create more films that center the stories of Black Muslim Girls and Women. #BlackMuslimGirlFly® You can contribute on CashApp. $Audaz.Entertainment!)
