They say pride comes before a fall...
Blackwood Fields is a sanctuary to 55 rescued animals in need in South West Victoria, Gulidjan Country, run by husband and wife, Robin Tullett and Felicity Andersen since 2014. Until today the sanctuary has been entirely self funded.
Unfortunately we have experienced a number of unexpected expenses and employment changes this past year that have put great pressure on our bank account. Then this week were informed Robin must have the next step of dental work to repair damage inflicted by a work injury that smashed out all four of his front top teeth, this Friday. As you can imagine being a salesperson, this has impeded him greatly in the two and a half years since the accident. He is yet to receive a penny from his previous employer toward the cost of repairs and we we are about to begin legal proceedings to attempt to recover some of the tens of thousands of dollars we are so far out of pocket. Fortunately we have a lovely lawyer who is prepared to act pro bono.
But, this week we must pay approximately $13000 for Robin's surgery, an expense we did not expect until March next year.
The timing of this surgery could not be worse as not only is this the busiest time of the year for Robin work wise but we are due to pay our annual hay bill of $8000 in the next couple of weeks. To say we are getting good at juggling is an understatement.
So, to prevent the inevitable fall we are swallowing our pride and asking our friends for help. Any amount you can contribute towards feeding our residents will be greatly appreciated and remove an enormous amount of stress for us personally.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
