Blake Dridan fund
Off the Bench is calling on you!!
No matter who you follow in the AFL, NRL, World Cricket, Tennis or whatever it is that floats your boat, we are calling on you for your support!!
Blake Dridan, a young 12 year old boy from Ballarat, has been fighting the fight of his life for the best part of 3 years.
Suffering a rare and deadly disease known as Severe Aplastic Anaemia, Blake has endured more pain and suffering than most people could handle throughout their whole life.
Both Blake and by default, the whole Dridan family, had their lives tipped upside down in a matter of hours. In November 2016, what on the surface seemed to be everyday rough house kid bruising became what could only be described as a families worst nightmare. Blake's mortality was put on the line as Specialists at the Royal Children's Hospital scrambled for answers to the seriously life threatening disorder that Blake was faced with.
For the whole of 2017, the Dridan family lived life as broken family while the amazing doctors at the Royal Childrens Hospital fought alongside Blake through some of the most daunting of situations.
Blake had a Bone Marrow Transplant in March of 2017. The complications that Blake has faced since the transplant have left Blake continuing what can only be described as a massive fight to this very day.
The emotional cost for the whole family has been enormous. The amount of "unknown" often leads to answers that requires a fair degree of hope. There has been little in the way of answers as to how Blake will finally beat this disease once and for all.
We are calling on you to help in a way that we in the general public can. Where there has been a massive emotional cost to the family, there has also been an equally large financial cost, which has undoubtedly caused pressure of another kind. When dealing with Blake's situation, the last thing we want the Dridan family to be concerned about is how they are going to survive financially.
In late July, the Dridan family ute was stolen from their driveway and subsequently set alight and burnt. This vehicle was used to travel up and down the freeway from Ballarat to RCH on countless occasions and now, on top of everything else - it's gone.
Well guys, enough is enough and we at AFL nation are making a stand. Get behind these guys and support them however you can. The least we can do is let them draw breath on the everyday pressures they have incurred over the last 3 years and let their focus be solely on getting Blake back on his feet again.
Regards,
Hutchy, Pickers and the Off the Bench Team
