Emily Blake's Fight against CRPS!
Donation protected
I am starting a Go Fund Me account for my older sister Emily. Emily is 16 years old and has a disorder called CRPS.
What"s CRPS? It is a chronic pain disorder and it is rated one of the most painful disorders to have. (www.burningnightscrps.org)
When Emily was 10 years old she rolled her ankle, it became so painful that if the bedsheets touched her ankle it was excruciating pain. We later learned this was called allodynia.
Emily’s initial injury healed but the pain kept getting worse and became so unbearable that she was bedridden and using a wheelchair. The Doctors diagnosed Emily with CRPS also known as RSD. CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) or RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) is a chronic pain condition most often affecting one of the limbs, usually after a injury. On the McGill Pain scale CRPS/RSD is classified as the MOST PAINFUL CHRONIC PAIN CONDITION that is known to man. Emily says that it feels like her body is wrapped in barbed wire and that she feels like she is walking on knives. I don’t know how she does it, but she fights the pain everyday. She tries really hard not to let people know how much pain she is in and strives to have a normal life. I look up to her for how strong she is.
Emily’s pain is spreading, this morning she was crying because the pain has gone into her eyes. It is from her ankle to her eyes, her entire body! Emily has tried several medicines, Physical Therapy, Flotation Therapy, and has had eight sympathetic nerve blocks. She has been to several different Doctors trying to find something that will help her pain. The things that have helped in the past are not helping anymore.
It is heartbreaking watching her cry and to see her in pain and be not able do anything to help her pain. The Go Fund Me account is a way that I can help. My parents want to take Emily to the East Coast for treatment that has helped people that have the same disorder as Emily. The treatment is done by Dr. Cooney in New Jersey and is called Calmare Scrambler Therapy. Thank you for your time and if you can help that would be greatly appreciated.
