Blake Stallings - Liver Transplant

Donation protected
About 10 years ago, Blake was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirhossis of the liver.  He was able to manage the disease fairly well with medication and routine doctor visitis to UNC Chapel Hill until Christmas of 2014.

While celebrating Christmas with his family, Blake became very disoriented and showing signs of slowed motor skills so Sandra and all of the nurses of the family decided it best to take him to the ER after Christmas dinner.  His amonia level was registered above 100; doctors consider 30 to be on the high side of normal.

After this visit, it was clear that more trips to UNC would be coming in the future.  It seems to be the case that with every trip to UNC, the disease has progressed even more.  Doctors use a MELD (Model for End-Stage Liver Disease) score to assess the progression of cirhossis.  Last Christmas, Blake's score was 11, which is a tolerable score.  During this past summer, his score had risen to 15.  At this point, the doctors thought it would be best to start the process of getting Blake on the liver transplant list.  After months of doctor visits and endless paperwork, Blake was approved the transplant board and placed on the liver transplant list.

The MELD score generally does not increase so much so quickly so the doctors had hightened concern for Blake.  At his last appointment, his MELD score has risen again, this time to 19.  Blake could now receive a phone call at any time letting him know that there is a liver ready and waiting for him.  He has taken time off from singing with The Ambassadors on days when he did not feel well, and everyone knows if Blake Stallings misses a singing, he does not feel well.

Please pray for Blake and his family during this time of trial and pray for God's healing.  Also, pray about donating to help offset the costs of all of the doctor visits and the high cost of the liver transplant.  Blake has been a part of so many benefit concerts throughout the years and always tried to put others needs above his own but this time he is the one needing our help.  Let's rally around him and show him how loved he is by helping pay these medical bills.
