Video clip for BLAST electro-Arab
Donation protected
We are BLAST, an electro-Arab music duo formed by Queer Falafel/Anthony Kmeid and Mad Monkey/Pako Serrano.
Our set is dark, industrial, harsh and dancy. The sounds are intersected with Arab vocals and queer anti-colonial performance.
Reclaiming spaces. Transmuting dissidents. Deconstructing binarisms.
Neo-traumatic electro boom boom.
We met in 2022 and started working on the project. Falafel/Anthony is a Lebanese migrant in Barcelona, they create the content of BLAST, based on their corporal, mental and emotional process dealing with their PTSD facing bomb sounds and denouncing the eurocentric colonial perspectives that exoticise Arabs and feminised identities.
BLAST is targetting different kinds of spaces with different formats, for clubs and festivals but also contemporary art spaces and politicised queer BIPOC collectives.
It is becoming one of the few references for queer Arabs and migrants and is promoting a discourse of empowerment, vindication and intersectionality.
We have been working for a year on our set, we are self-funded and we are trying to forge our way in the industry with the hardships of not having mainstream queer Arab references.
Our first album is ready, we have an exchange deal with a studio that is willing to record it and do the mastering.
We are at a point where our resources became limited and we urgently need to sign with an agency to have a team that gets us bookings and manages the production.
For us to send our proposal to any agency, we need to have our product ready.
Apart from our album, we need visual material.
The main goal here is to raise funds for a video clip so we can sell the project, take it to the next level and continue making it our mission to produce more references for Arab and BIPOC migrants and queer people.
