Blay Family Fight Against Cancer
Don protégé
Mr. Blay's wonderful wife of almost 23 years is fighting cancer. Alex had breast scans and a MRI, and it was determined that she has Stage 4 Breast Cancer. The cancer has moved in to her spine, hips and shoulders. She will be attending MD Anderson for treatment. It is going to be a battle, but they are optimistic that with their faith in God and the support of their family and friends, Alex will have a good outcome. Your support and prayers are truly appreciated during this time. Please support Mr. Blay, our fantastic science teacher as he will be missing a lot of work in order to attend her doctor appointments, attend to her needs as well as spend as much time as possible with her.
Blay Family Update.
Two words characterize the Blay family’s life since they found out Alex has Stage 4 Breast Cancer in September of this year: Struggle and Support.
The everyday struggles of a family that is struck by this disease are profound. Physical pain, loss of independence and loss of a steady paycheck.
The Blay family have spent countless hours at Mayo Clinic, sleepless nights and financial hardship over the past few months. The struggles are real.
Support: The Blay family have also experienced tremendous support over the past 3 months. Family, friends and the Amazing Staff and Families of Duval Charter at Flagler Center have provided much needed financial and emotional support. Support has also been found in the Blay’s deep faith in God and His grace as they have traveled through this challenging time.
So, the past months have been full of struggle and support. So what does the future hold? The result of the months of chemotherapy will be seen in January when Alex undergoes a PET scan to determine the effectiveness of the treatment. The outcome is unknown. What is known for sure, however is that your support of the GoFundMe account allows them to keep living and keep fighting until Alex is better again.
